Matthew is looking mighty surprised here, for a reason. Japanese restaurants are actually, in special showcases, displaying imitations of the fare they're serving. Those are made of wax and the newer ones actually look pretty tasty. More tasty than the real food, in some cases. Matthew and I both can't speak or read Japanese – if you discount phrases like yes, no, hello and the roughly 20 signs I've taught myself. Still, we didn't waste away starving – thanks to the wax displays. We just asked the waiters outside, gesticulated madly – and ordered by pointing our fingers.
